It’s World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.
We all have the right to live safely, be treated with respect and dignity, and make our own decisions regardless of our age. Denying these rights for older people and causing them harm are forms of elder abuse. Family, friends and carers are often the biggest culprits, but they may not even be aware they are doing it.
Elder abuse is everyone’s business. If you suspect, witness or experience elder abuse, call the National Elder Abuse Hotline on 1800 353 374.
