The campaign is a nation-wide program funded by the Federal Government to stop Australia’s supply chain of illicit drugs, including methylamphetamine (ice), cocaine, MDMA, heroin and cannabis.
Dob in a Dealer aims to increase information reports from the Australian public to Crime Stoppers and the police regarding people suspected of supplying or dealing in drugs.
During the last Dob in a Dealer campaign in 2016, Crime Stoppers received an average increase of 95 per cent in drug-related information reports from members of the public.
Minister for Police and Emergency Services Mick Gentleman said the Dob in a Dealer campaign is a valuable opportunity for Canberrans to provide information that could help shut down dealers of illicit and illegal drugs.
“The ACT Government remains committed to tackling the scourge of drugs in our community – that’s why we are working with ACT Policing and Crime Stoppers to ensure our city and our region are safe from the supply and manufacture of illicit drugs,” Minister Gentleman said.
“Drug dealers and suppliers sell misery and despair. They also make our communities unsafe.
ACT Deputy Chief Police Officer Mark Walters said that Dob in a Dealer assisted the work ACT Policing is doing in targeting and disrupting the distribution and trafficking of illicit drugs.
Chair of ACT Region Crime Stoppers, Diana Forrester also encouraged members of the public to do their part and Dob in a Dealer.
